Come join us for the Essanay Centers Lighting and Campaign Kickoff Event. The lighting ceremony will consist of a ribbon cutting and kickoff of the Indiegogo campaign and lighting of the 1345 terra cotta entrance and the front of Studio A/Charlie Chaplin Auditorium.  This will be followed by a showing of the film The Man in the Silk Hat with video excerpts by Maud Linder created for the event.

The Man in the Silk Hat (French: L’homme au chapeau de soie) is a 1983 French documentary film about the films of the French silent film star Max Linder, directed by his daughter, Maud Linder. It was screened out of competition at the 1983 Cannes Film Festival.

Pre-reception: 5:30 – 6:30 PM
Ribbon cutting and lighting: 6:45 – 7:00 PM
Man in the Silk Hat: 7:15 – 9:00 PM

About the FilmmakerMAUD LINDER

Maud Linder is the daughter of the world’s first movie star, Max Linder. Maud has made it her mission to bring renewed interest to the great cinematic genius whom Charlie Chaplin affectionately called “my professor.” She has made two documentaries, En compagnie de Max Linder (aka Laugh With Max Linder) and L’homme au chapeau de soie  (aka The Man in the Silk Hat). She lives in France.
